Bomb Island

Bomb Island is known for its historical significance and being North America's largest Purple Martin roosting site. The island, which is approximately 12 acres, is in the middle of Lake Murray.

For example, Bomb Island was named after General James Doolittle, commander of the Doolittle Raiders in WW2. The B-25 pilots often practiced their air runs on Doolittle Island, which gave it the nickname Bomb Island.

The pet-friendly beach is a great spot to bring your furry friends.
